Clark Little

Clark little is a photographer who is based in Waimea Bay. He was born in 1968 and his work started by his wife asking him for a picture of some local water to go in a frame in the house. So he swapped his surfboard for a waterproof camera and started taking pictures of the sea. Now he has gained nationwide recognition for his photographic work.  Here he is with his equipment. He gets these photos by standing in the sea where the waves are about to break. He then waits for a wave and then when the wave is just about to hit him he takes the photo. This results in him getting hit by the wave. He uses a fast shutter speed to capture the waves at their best. The waves he takes pictures of are very high and powerful.
The sun plays a big part in some of his photos as it shines on the water creating an even better picture. Such as in this photo the sun creates a line along the wave which is used t o lead the eye in the direction of the wave and the end of the tunnel/barrell.
In this photo, the wave has dragged the sand up into the wave meaning there is a cloud of sand inside the wave. This photo makes the viewer feel as if they are there because of the angle.

In this photo, the texture is a key part becasue the beginning of the wave is smooth but as it gets nearer to the end the water gets more bumpy and rough. I like the way that the barrell suddenly ends to show the sun and the beach because it gives the photo placement, we feel as if we are there.

In this photo the start of the wave is like a wall becasue there isn't any water underneath it. This creates a feeling of how powerful the wave is. I also like the contrasts of colour in the sky and the wave, the blues and the whites.

This photo creates a 3D feel. This is because the sun is in the center and creates a shining light on the water and makes a line leading to the veiwer. Because we look at the sun, the wave almost becomes 3D aswell.

I like this photo becasue the texture of the waves make us think that it's soft but of we look to the left then we see a wall of water which makes us think that it is powerfuland dangerous. We can then see a small hole in the wave which makes us feel as we we have a chance to escape the danger of the wave. I also like the different shades of blue, How it starts of dark and then gets lighter until it turns white.

The wave is red in this photo and we don't know why. Becasue of this the veiwer tries to figure it out. It is a very unique shot becasue we have never' seen anything like this before and so we appreciate it a lot more. There is also a show of the different shades of orange.

With a high shutter speed Clark caught the brilliant fanned effect of two waves intersecting each other and throwing out this spectacular fan of water. The high shutter speed makes the water look like glass. This is a very rare photo because it is hard to spot them and then take the photo of it happening at the right time because they happen so quickly and we can't tell where they are going to happen. Clark is very lucky to have had that chance.

Overall I think that Clark little is a very good photographer as his pictures are unique and give the veiwer a feel of the sea. His photos have a 3D effect which brings the viewer into the picture. I also like the way that he makes the waves have texture and the different shades in the picture.
